The Hinge
by Dr. Randall Worley (Transformational Thinking)
The doors we walk through everyday in our homes, offices, or places of business all swing on hinges. We never really think about this small and unnoticed mechanism that grants us access. The door of our destiny too can hinge on small acts of obedience. The significance we seek for may be in what seems insignificant. We can be looking so intently for what we should do that we look right through the obvious.
I personally have a propensity to complicate things way too much. As a result I am susceptible to "mental logjams". A logjam is a jumble of logs trapped in a river. This primitive method of transporting logs to a saw mill where they are fashioned into building materials is blocked by a single log. One log wedged against hundreds of others can obstruct the flow.
One simple act of obedience could release you toward the fulfillment of your destiny. Obedience does not always require us to do monumental things but to respond to what may seem to be minuscule impulses. I have been learning that random and anonymous acts of kindness can be the doorway into what my spirit is longing for.
